Cathy Giove's Got a Catfight On Her Hands
Sun., Feb. 19, 2012 6:00 PM PST by Cathy Giove
Cathy Giove is new to the salon business, but the Jerseylicious lady has nothing but confidence! In this season premiere recap, Filippo's mom opens up about partnering with Anthony, throwing an over-the-top gala and fighting with Gayle and Christy.
READY TO MINGLE: Networking and self-promoting are keys to successful, long-running business ventures, so I decided to graciously throw a gala to meet other business owners and potential stylists. Convincing Anthony was nerve-wracking, but who doesn't love coming to a Giove party? It was a win-win situation!
PARTY CRASHERS: Gayle and Christy need to work on their social skills. How dare they come to my event and be so rude and disrespectful! I tried to avoid confrontation, but they made it almost impossible for me to bite my tongue. If Gayle really had a problem with me, all she had to do was call and set up a meeting. We could have discussed this like two sensible adults, but I guess that's asking too much from her! A businesswoman should never conduct herself like that in public. What example are you to your employees? Just an embarrassment!
LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGTHER: I don't understand why Christy even opened her mouth. Her mother is a big girl and didn't need a bodyguard. Gayle and Christy should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior. Besides being rude to me, it was disrespectful to behave like that in front of the CPSA board and its members. Everyone at the party saw how unprofessional they were, but I felt like I handled the situation like the lady that I am. However, I will never allow them to speak to me like that again. I have zero tolerance for rudeness.
SUCCESS RATE: Next time I throw a party, I will check the guest list thoroughly to make sure their names are not on it. I really should have had them escorted out—I would have loved to see the looks on their faces. But all in all, my mixer was a huge success, and I am looking forward to continued success in my new venture.
SAD GIRLS: I feel terrible for Gigi and Tracy—the poor girls are going through so much stress being on their own and trying to support themselves without working. Gayle caused all this chaos by firing them and not giving them the job security that they needed. Hopefully my salon will be open soon, but in the meantime, I am trying to help them by giving them work, like helping at the mixer. Seeing Tracy tear up broke my heart!
NAME GAME: I was very disappointed that Anthony didn't see things my way and go with a new name. As the better person, I half-heartedly agreed to use Anthony Robert as our salon name. We have very different views on running a business, but I am 110 percent on board. He is a very high-strung man and worries way too much, while I am confident, even though I am not a hairdresser. I know he's worried that he's with the wrong partners, but he hit the lotto with my family.

1. It was hard to watch Cathy and Gail tonight. If it was hard for me to watch, I can only imagine how hard it was for those guests to witness, but worse for Cathy and Gail to see themselves. I hope that in the future they can act like ladies when they have disagreements.

4. Hi Mrs. Giove, love to see you kick Gayle into reality on the show, or at least try. That woman seriously needs to get over herself. Love your point about how she was ready to take your money when they were trying to franchise. And her response that at least then she would have been guiding, ummm what's she trying to say about Anthony? Isn't he going to be there helping you get acclimated to the salon biz? Gayle acts like an immature little kid and everyone around her is too nice to speak up, especially Anthony. Gayle is a bitter old lady, whereas you are just a wonderful mothering figure. Team Cathy all the way!

5. Mrs.Giove you go on with your bad *** self girl.It was about time someone put those two voltures (Gayle and Christie) in they're place. How dare she try to be little your background in the pizzeria industry. She's such an evil troll along with her spineless fetal looking daughter.Everyone seems to fear her but she finally bumped into someone with some cajones.I luv you for that so many times I sat back wishing I could jump in my tv to set that troll strait until you came along and did it.I admire you .you are a good person she outa take some lessons from you maybe she could atleast be civilized.Hats off to you Mrs.G.In the end Gayle is the one looking pathetic and filled with envy and you looking like a true lady.Me too team Giove all the way.

6. Everything you did was perfect. Do not second guess yourself and say next time I will * * * Not allowing them to attend would have reflected poorly on you. This way people will see who they are. You handled both of them beautifully. They bad mouthed two girls and ruined their reputation which is malicious. I loved the way your family and peers stood to the side because they knew you would be able to handle this situation on your own. Without back up. You were verbally attacked by two woman and you handled it so beautifully. I had to rewind this confrontation about 8 times what a great start to Jerseylicious. Glad to see you on this show and cannot wait for the future episodes to see how this unfolds. Mrs. G you are FaBoo.

7. It's about time someone knocked Gail and Christy off their high horses! The way they treated Anthony, Tracey, and Gigi is dispicable! Loyalty must not be a word in their vocabulary! I can't believe they went to Mrs. Grove's party and passed out their business cards! Talk about tacky and classless!

9. Cathy seems to be one of the only ones on this show that has any sense. Her confidence is great, and she manages to stay fairly calm with the raging b**ches that are trying to get up in her business. She obviously has a more grown up point of view and knows drama isn't going to make her succeed. I like her so far, so I'm really hoping she's not putting on a front. And I think Gayle and Christy going to Cathy's event handing out business cards was so unprofessional and childish * especially when they got into the argument with her at the party. Embarrassing themselves, and a great way to kill their business.

10. I'm not really sure whose team I'm on, primarily because I was so distracted by Cathy's new face. Clearly, she has had some work done. She looks completely different. She's had at a minimum, a nose job, and possibly an eye or face lift. It's her face and she can do what she wants, but for someone who claims to be so confident, it's kind of disappointing to discover that she didn't have the confidence to face the cameras with the face she was born with.

11. I find Cathy annoying. She is beyond pushy. So she thinks she knows how to run a hair salon because she ran a pizza parlor ** She is about to be schooled.

12. I think Mrs. G is annoying. Sorry, but this woman thinks she is something, and she is not. I like her new look though, for someone in her middle 60's she looks great. With help of course. She is not the only mother in this world that has a good relationship with her older kids. But, the thing is watch when you bragg too much about your kids, no matter what you think of them, there is always room for error, then you look stupid. That is why you should never talk about someone else's kids. All we can do is raise them and hope they turn out ok, they are not going to just because we say so. Philly is very spoiled, you can tell. I have a son his age that is studying to be a Dr, putting himself through college, has no car and mom and dad don't give him everything he wants. He is also very good looking, he actually models, but he pays his own way, and I am hoping he will be like Anthony, he has a level head unlike Philly. A spoiled brat. I am not trying to rag on Mrs. G *

13. Cathys character is obnoxious and doesn't even speak English correctly...did you hear her say "society!" She calls it the "soci-a-tay"...LOL Go make pizza with your goofy son...He needs he guido slapped outta him, and you shoud have done the chin lift with the face life! I used to really enjoy the show but they're "jumping the shark"!!! I know this is basically a scripted show but it was a fun ritual to watch on Sundays with my daughters! Now its just becoming waaaaay too obnoxious. (In fact, I live in Warren, right by the Gatsby...I know those girls don't work there and I can't understand why Gail would compromise her name with a show like this!) Cathy is obnoxious, Tracy is fat, looks like a man and is such an envious girl, Olivia is adorable but looking a bit like a drag queen, GiGis become a biotch, Michele is stupid, as are those girls on the Glam Fairy! The only ones on the show I like are Olivia and Mikey... Its all become badly scripted!
