Glam Fairy's Sharie Opens Up About Family & Werq

Hair fairy Sharie Manon is always a voice of reason on Style's new hit show Glam Fairy. In her latest episode recap, she opens up about her dad and uncle's homosexuality, and offers her unique perspective on the ladies of Werq, Glamo's makeover takeover and more.

Family Secrets: My uncle was very open about his sexual orientation. Everybody from a very young age understood that he was gay, but I don't think it was accepted. They didn't make him feel uncomfortable, but it was just a different time. My uncle was an artist, so he was able to be a lot more open. My father, on the other hand, was very private. He ended his life because he was incredibly troubled by it. I didn't have a close relationship with my dad. Clearly, he was uncomfortable with his sexuality and wasn't with my mom for very long. I think he was trying to find himself. He was trying to find out who he was.

Jon's Confession: It broke my heart hearing Jon talk about his mom not accepting that he's gay, because Jon is an amazing person. I understand the old mentality. But I had family who was deeply religious, and they still loved my uncle. I'm hopeful that Jon's mom will come around. She loves him, but I wish she could learn to support him.

Making It Werq: I love the girls from Werq. They're a hot mess. I knew I had to make it good with Prada or else. I was very scared of her, but we bonded and she was happy. Honey is the sweetest girl ever. Her name is Honey.

Makeup Mistake: The reality of the situation is that when you're dealing with a drag queen, the face is the biggest part of the transformation. Alexa did miss the mark. It looked like the palette exploded on their faces. But she was able to modify it and it worked out. As artists, we have to recognize when we mess up, because we all do.

Glamo's Know-It-All Attitude: Sometimes, Glamo acts like he owns that whole "I'm a gay man" division, but he understood the personal connection that I had to the situation and he also knew that I would do it justice. I hate having to step in all the time, because I know I sometimes step on people's toes. I'm very direct. But Briella was totally cool with it. Glamo was proud of the outcome. Everybody came together and it worked out really well.

Seeing Fireworks: When Honey walked through the door, I can tell her look was very different. What I was thinking was the soliloquy of the desert. The base of it was a wig. I cut the front fringe out and thought of Ziggy Stardust. I didn't know until later on that Honey was a huge Ziggy Stardust fan. I guess we just tapped into each other's energies. I just wanted something that lit up. I don't know if the viewers could tell, but it lit up.

A2 & the Puppies: A2 is as cute as those puppies. One of these days, when she grows up a little bit, it's going to make sense to me. God bless her for her spirit and energy, but I do not have time for puppies, I'm sorry. I think some people thought it was cute and she did try, but her attention span is really like the puppies—and my kids. It was cute, if you're into puppies. I try to take A2 underneath my wings. She's always enthusiastic to do anything and I love that. She's a good girl. I don't really deal with a lot of 18-year-olds, but she definitely, definitely tries.
