Inky darks are still in. Glam-rock metallics or plexi-pop hues will serve you well. Vampy reds are still fine. But here's a head-spinner for you: solid nudes. Not sheer nudes—you know, those reliable, comfy standbys that flatter everyone and last forever. No, no, fashion, you had to go do something totally insane. And give us something really, really difficult to wear.

But solid nudes are the new, raging trend for spring and summer of this year, according to Jan Arnold, and she would know: She's the head of Creative Nail Design, whose nail techs were backstage at pretty much every major show at New York Fashion Week last fall.

Specifically, we're looking at two shades: Cocoa and French Pink, the people at CND say. One is medium, one is light. If you don't like the way the Cocoa looks on you, go ahead and—ZOMG!—mix the two shades until you love the turnout. Yes, you can do that. Looks like that's the only flexibility we're gonna get with this trend!
