Liquid Dresses

Tinseltown is living up to its name, with star tenants like Mischa Barton and Emmy Rossum lusting after lustrous liquid dresses. "Metallic frocks evoke a flashy, Studio 54, party-girl feel," says Daily 10 fashion correspondent Amanda Luttrell Garrigus, who explains that the eternal spotlight from these shimmering sheaths is sure to get you noticed.
But all that glitters isn't gold. How Do I Look? stylist Sarah Silver adds that while liquid fabrics such as lamé and metallic jersey emanate a sheen that's "über-sexy and very festive," they're notorious for highlighting your every bulge. So, slim down before turning up the wattage.
When it comes to accessories, matchy-matchy is the way to go. Shoes and a clutch in a matching metallic hue work well. The bling from your baubles, however, is another story. Bare necks and arms are ideal when wearing a dress that's like a piece of jewelry on its own.
Just plan on donning the sparkly number after hours. "If it's too early in the day to start spinning the disco ball, then it's probably too early to pour one of these on," advises Luttrell Garrigus.
