Whitney Port's Fashion Line Fails to Impress

It was no surprise when Whitney Port jumped on the Hills fashion bandwagon and announced she was designing her own line. But there was hope for its success, given Whitney's background at Teen Vogue, Women's Wear Daily and fashion PR firm People's Revolution.

Whitney's first  two Eve & A pieces are now on sale, and we're seriously disappointed. For starters, the two dresses are pricy: $495 for the sequin one on the left, and $345 for a ruffled sheath. At least Heidi Montag's collection, though slightly on the trashy side, is way affordable.

The high price tag wouldn't be so awful if the frocks were original. But we've seen prettier open-back sequined dresses, and another budding designer, Project Runway's  Christian Siriano, already did the ruffled collar, just with more high-fashion drama. And while Lauren Conrad's jersey dresses aren't exactly a nouveau concept, at least they're comfy.

Whitney just moved to New York to work for the ridiculously talented Diane von Furstenberg, so we're hoping—at least for her sake—that the remaining 15 pieces of the collection are nothing like the first two.
