WTF Fashion: Kate Moss Goes Granny Gray
Fri., Jan. 29, 2010 3:00 PM PST by Sydne Summer
We weren't crazy about Gareth Pugh and Giles Deacon showing gray hair for spring. But it was on the runway, and we figured that is where the theatrical statement would remain. We were wrong.
First, British socialites like Pixie Geldof started sporting granny crops. Then the trend continued at Haute Couture Fashion Week with Bride of Frankenstein streaks at Christian Dior and Lady Gaga bows on top of gray-striped hair at Chanel.
Next, a silver-haired Kelis got a Fashion DUI for silver spikes—and most recently Kate Moss feted her new Longchamp line in Paris with gray highlights!
The last part scares us. Whenever the supermodel is photographed in trend, half the world seems to follow.

1. I love this trend! Not only is it refreshing, but it's natural and actually quite lovely. So glad to see gray hair worked into "normal," and made fashionable. Bravo, Kate Moss!

2. I am a major fan of this style on Kate Moss- who probably is old enough to find a stray gray hair naturally. I prefer this to the fake hair colors of most older women. I am not gray yet, but when I do go gray, I am going to rock it as fashion statement.

3. I am 49 and I have gray hair down post my butt. I get compliments ALL the time. Gray is hot, or not. Just like the woman wearing it.

4. I don't get why platinum blond is "sexy" and gray hair is "granny". They are just shades of light hair and it is your own associations with the colors that make you view gray as an inappropriate color. You almost sound like you'd prefer Moss to have florescent banana yellow hair than gray. What are you going to do when your own hair starts turning gray, are you going to keep dying it so you look like one of those 80 year old ladies with jet black hair? And "Sydne"? Someone with a name like that shouldn't be judging others! Talk about contrived.
