Got Any Advice for Exfoliating Lips?

What is the best way to exfoliate your lips?
—Lashawn, Winter Park, Florida
A minor scandal! Makeup mavens inform me that most lip exfoliators fall under the “meh” category: Not all that great, only semi-effective and, in some cases, more harmful than helpful. A little over-exuberance on this tender part of your body can lead to bleeding or ugly marks. The favorite technique of top makeup artist Rachel Weingarten is simple: “Slather your lips with Vaseline, take a shower or bath, and then take a washcloth and rub it all off.”
Or simply take a bit of sugar, dampen it with one drop of water, and rub your lips gently. You might also want to try a children's toothbrush, the one with very soft bristles, but still—easy, there. If you insist on trying a commercial exfoliator, Weingarten recommends Benefit's Lipscription, shown above. And please, don't forget to keep your lips moist at all times! A well-pampered lip will keep harsh exfoliating to a minimum.

2. I have a bone to pick with Mark Brunette. I was watching a 2006 episode of Clean House in which he did the living room in plaid. He referred to tartans as being "English." 1) They are NOT English they are Scottish and Irish in origin 2) Tartan ONLY refers to plaids which are specifically designated for Scottish Clans or Irish families 3) Not all plaids are tartans. The plaids you used were NOT tartans. Next time do your research or have the production assisitants do research before you open your mouth.
