Ask Thom: What Will Soften Red and Black Bedding?
Sun., Nov. 23, 2008 10:56 AM PST by Staff
I have dark red sheets and pillowcases and a black comforter and dust ruffle. I want to paint my white walls. I am making a headboard (plywood and cotton stuffing covered with black and red fabric). If the sheets weren't such a dark red, I would paint the walls red. What should I paint the walls, and do you have any other ideas for a headboard?

Measure up 48 inches and put a tape line and then go out 12 inches on both sides of the bed and just paint on a headboard in a really great dark Chinese or oxblood red.
You need to neutralize the '80s black and red bedding. Paint out the walls with a really warm beige color, almost like a camel. The earthy and natural shade will be a nice counterbalance to the severity of the red and black.
