What Are the Latest Belt Trends?

Are there any new belt styles I should be trying?

Just got off the blower with a very clued-in handbag designer and accessories expert who tells me that, well, what do you know? We're in a belt renaissance right now.

"There are a lot of laser cutouts in belts right now," says Maria Argyropoulos, designer of M. Andonia handbags. (By the way, she adds, many belt trends are spilling over into handbags as well, so if you're into the matchy matchy, you're also experiencing a kind of renaissance.)

Some other trends for the season: leather wraparound belts, double-skinny belts—with or without tassels—and belts that are wide in the front and tapered in the back.

So where to find this super-hot waist decor? It may be a bit tough, as these trends are just starting to creep into the mainstream. But I did manage to find you a decently priced double-skinny over at Anthropologie. If you're flush, you might want to check out McQueen's take on this belt trend; he has a super-innovative, freaky-futuristic number that's bound to be a museum piece sooner rather than later.

Ready for one last trend alert? Seriously, don't sit down for this one. Fanny packs. Yes, really.

"I just exhibited a belt with a little pouch at a Dallas trade show," Argyropoulos tells me. Until you can get your hands on that one, there's always Donna Karan, who recently debuted a belt with a pouch...on the front.
