Running in Heels:Things Heat Up
Sun., Apr. 5, 2009 5:30 PM PDT by Talita Silva
Wow! Has the heat started burning things up at the Marie Claire offices this week or what? Better still, did the lovely queen herself, Ms. Joanna Coles, heat things up? Good Lord!
I have to confess that I did hate getting caught up in the drama with Samantha last week. I was trying so hard from the beginning of the internship to stay out of drama, but we all have "that side" to us. The three of us lived in a one-bedroom apartment, shared one bathroom, and had to work together every day, so unfortunately, the drama came into the workplace. But thank God I was forced to grow up real quick.
So let me start barking about how my skin itched when Joanna had a meeting with all of us to "step it up." I was very deluded, it seems, in thinking I was working my butt off to try to make an impression. At this point, I began to feel this was a competition—whether some of us really wanted a position at MC or just wanted to prove ourselves. And we were all pretty determined.
There are no words to describe how I felt about what went down with my plan to interview Rihanna at the red carpet event she was hosting. My pride and ego grew very fast after I got the green light from her publicist, so when I was shot down by Lucy before even getting to Joanna, I was very humbled.
This was by far the lowest point in the internship for me, and I think my emotions made that pretty clear. During my meltdown, I mentioned how I didn't want to be there and how it was a waste of time. I know, I know, another arrogant and ungrateful lie that came out of my mouth but I did not mean. I was angry, but I took it back immediately. I desperately wanted to be there, and at this point, if somebody would have asked me to run across the street naked in New York City in the freezing cold, I would have.
Ashley and Samantha go head-to-head at Kenneth Cole. I was somewhat impressed, I must admit, by Sam working her way to make an impression. It's unfortunate that it turned into what it did, but in the end, I'm not surprised that Ashley did the same thing but better. The tension was high again, but I couldn't be distracted because I had my own agenda with my Rihanna plan. So I wasn't worried about what these girls had cooking.
Ashley does finally prove herself and outshines me and Sam. Whatever way she went about doing it is her business. I'm not going to lie. I did see the blog she turned in and it did blow me away. She did a great job and deserved the praise. But yours truly was left with my skin itching even more, and my mind was spinning for ideas.

1. I had all these plans, after last weeks episode, to tell you how awful and juvenille your hair is, but now I sort of feel sorry for you. Maybe if you weren't such a mega-bitch towards Samantha and sometimes Ashley, you would be experiencing better Karma.

2. Honey, your weekly back-pedaling regarding your ugly behavior is getting old. OUCH, that Rhianna thing had to have hurt. P.S... camera close ups are not your friend. Ewww.
Talapia Sun, Apr 5, 2009, 9:00 PM
3. You are terrible and a grade A ****** not the good kinda ***** either. I don't want to pick up another Marie Claire because of you.

4. you give los angeles a bad name. change your attitude and stop being so jealous and immature.

5. I was just cringing as you made those calls without running it by someone first. Especially after you'd been there a few weeks, I would think you would've learned a little bit about how publishing works! The *editors*, not the *interns*, decide what will be covered and who covers it. Seems like you didn't even listen to Joanna and that she expected you to come to her with ideas, not finished stories. Don't you realize that they plan issues down to the inch, months in advance? It was such a rookie mistake. You might have had a good idea, all you had to do was ask. Well at least you didn't ***** at the other girls that much this week, I guess that's a plus.

7. Talita,Yeah, I don't know which is worse Ashley or you. I think your attitude is kind of childish and nasty at times. You need to be more professional and be more of a team player. DON'T LET ASHLEY INFLUENCE YOU!! I've seen how she manipulates you and that is also making you look really bad. You also need to dress more better for work.

8. I think you have good people skills, your voice itself has a good command quality to it. I think you will be a good candidate to interview people walking the red carpet. You should develop this and please be friendly to everybody, just because you think some people are inferior than you doesn't give you the right to look down on them.

9. Talita * I felt so sorry for you when your idea was shot down the way it was, at least you did try, and the fact that this episode showed you doing your own thing was a good break from last week's episode. You and Ashley are most likely friends now who knows but it's in your best interest to stay away from conniving haters like her, what she does to Sam she would do to you in a heartbeat. Also, that outfit was horrendous (maybe just the peter pan hat) It would be nice to see you minus the bang and with texture in your hair maybe wavy.

10. geez louise! the hate that people post here is insane! i think you're a beautiful young woman and i hope that you got whatever experience you were seeking by doing the show/internship. stay focused and you can do whatever you want, honey. let the haters hate. anyone who leaves a comment saying you "need to dress more better for work" clearly shouldn't be taken seriously. more better? yeah, okay. hahaha...

11. Honey, you are one snarky biotch. Take that **** home.
Stacie Mon, Apr 6, 2009, 10:26 PM
12. Talita--Grow up! Get your nose out of the clouds. You might get a nose bleed. I will give you this though--it took a lot of guts to contact Rihanna's publicist. I thought they should have at least seen the initiative you took in that. You should be nicer to Sam and gang up on that B Ashley. Sabotage her for once. She doesn't care about you! I do think you are pretty and exotic looking, but honey, you have got to do something with that hair. And if what you wear on each episode is fashion, I'd rather wear rags. TaTa!
Tedra Tue, Apr 7, 2009, 7:06 AM
13. Shar, I'm going to need you to not say things like "more better." It shows your ignorance.
Kiki Tue, Apr 7, 2009, 9:30 AM
14. I just don't like anything about you. UGLY in every possible way.
Talita is a MAN Tue, Apr 7, 2009, 7:13 PM
15. Talita * You've worked so hard on getting this part and now all you get in the world confirming the stupidity that anyone that has ever met you already mocks. you are an imbecile my dear. I feel sorry for you for being such a clueless ugle girl. PS: how's the throwing up going?

16. running in heels has lost a viewer. ...and, i'm afraid that marie claire has lost a subscriber. while i want to be careful to state my opinion tactfully and respectfully (these cut throat comments are really unnecessary!) nonetheless, i can't keep myself from chiming in. bottom line: i find the whole thing tiresome. now...i love fashion; and i love to keep up with the latest hollywood gossip * but * it is ALARMING to find how many people actually feel that fashion and celebrity are really THAT important? really? come on, please...it is not worth the effort. the whole industry is truly NOT worth the effort.with that * i'll leave my opinion of the girls to myself. we have to remember that this show is edited, reality tv. so, i'll give the entire cast the benefit of the doubt...... but seriously, my goodness * the show is just draining. i'm sorry * but, it has just proved what a vast waste of time the "fashion industry" really is.

17. Ugh- what horrendous writing. I could barely get through your post due to all the grammatical errors. You might want to consider an English class (or two) at your local junior college. How on earth did you score an internship at MC?

19. Mistakes are made every day in every industry so don't beat yourself up too much over the Rhianna thing. That being said, what on earth made you think that securing a few moments w/ Rhianna on the red carpet was such a coup? If anything I would think that Rhianna's publicist would be contacting Marie Claire to make sure they know where she would be and that she will be available to interview. Not to mention common sense tells us that brainstorming some ideas and emailing them off to the editors and cc'ing Joanna is a more sensible way of showing your initative. This show is frusterating as one wonders how Marie Claire picks interns in the first place.

20. Dear pathetic person who calls themselves "TALITA IS A MAN" and "TALITA NEEDS TO EAT",You seem to know Talita personally and have a lot of bitterness and jealousy towards her for some reason.Let me guess, perhaps an old boyfriend of yours is in love with her and plans on marrying her and you now want to kill yourself? I feel sorry for you who ever you are. That's right Talita I got your back girl!
Nicole Thu, Apr 9, 2009, 8:49 PM
21. Is your drug usage contributing to your bi-polar disorder? You've got nothing to offer honey and you cannot undo your vulgar behavior with a few sensible words in a blog. Eat a burger and maybe you'll be more pleasant. ROFLMFAO.
nancy Fri, Apr 10, 2009, 11:36 AM
22. So I'm not crazy, everyone else on here thinks talita is not a girl right?
sharon Sat, Apr 11, 2009, 1:02 AM
23. You are so stuck up and full of yourself its unbelievable! Girl, you need to deflate that big head of yours and be a nicer person because one day the very people whom you once looked down upon might be the ones interviewing you for your next job. You NEVER know, so be humble * or at least pretend to be.
Nana Fri, Apr 17, 2009, 10:28 PM
24. I really feel sorry for people like Talita. She THINKS she is the best and "more better" than many people. She will be the type of person who CAN be successful professionally, but when it comes down to personal life and friends she will be a very sad and lonely person. Dear, you have to grow up, dress properly, take care of your hair and do something with your face... you're not pretty as you might think.
