How Should I Wear My Hair This Season?

What hairstyles or cuts are in for this summer?
—Janice Z., Munroe Falls, Ohio
If you're asking if bobs and bangs are finally gone, the answer is praise the lawdy, yes.
Ring the bells! For we are free! "The beachy look is in!" declares Carrie Butterworth, hairstylist at Patrick Melville Salon and Spa.
"It's all about long, flowing layers for a tousled, relaxed and feminine style," she continues. "You'll see a lot of grown-out bangs since the summer is all about low maintenance."
In other words, less is more this season. Could be the recession. Or maybe not.
"Since the humidity is at its peak during the summer, it's best to stop fighting it and go with a cut that complements your natural texture," Butterworth advises. "There will be a lot of long layers and open waves with a lot of movement."
My advice? Enjoy it, before another high-maintenance short cut comes back in style.

1. That's great and I love the look but it takes me a good half hour to separate my hair into pieces and curl it on a curling iron like in the picture. I don't have the time and humidity would flatten my curls as soon as I walked out the door.

2. If long waves are in style and the tousled look, what are those of us who have bobs supposed to do? Hair doesn't grow overnight.I purport that the style that fits you is the style that's "In Style".Don't listen to the experts. Just try a small change every once in a while and enjoy your hair, letting it do what works for you.

3. I totally agree with Heidi. Not everyone wears their hair long and a bob or even short hair can be low maintenance. Wear your hair as you like, not how everyone one else is wearing it.

4. That's why I never cut my hair short. I keep it the way it is, with some layers, complementing my face. Don't do what's in "style" but do what works for you. Plus, if everyone has the same type of hair (a bob, for example), it means you will look more unique. Also, if you look good in a bob, go for it. Only do what works for you and not what people tell you is in style. So simple, yet hard to understand for some.

5. I love love love Niecy Nash's hair. It always looks great. I heard her say it was a weave on a recent show. I recently got a weave myself and it always tangles and sheds. Hers is always shiny and smooth. I'd like to know what brand of hair and what technique she uses.
