3. Kudos to you for your 100 pound weight loss. It ain't easy girl, I know, I just lost 100 pounds myself, 40 more to go. What I want to share with you is what I have learned in the past year of my weight loss journey. Never darken the door of a fast food restaurant again! Read Fast Food Nation and you will understand. Read In Defense of Food and understand what REAL food is. Read The Crazy Makers and understand how food (good or bad food) effects your body and last read Dr. Oz's book, You on a Diet. I know it sounds like a lot of reading, but I just couldn't put these books down. The Dr. that I am currently working with is the one who suggested that I read these and am I so glad he did. It has wholely changed the way I eat and the way I look at food. It has also changed my body! No, you can't just read the books and then put them on the shelf, you have to follow the advise given. I only wish I knew this stuff years ago so that my quality of life could have been better. You GO girl!

4. Your video gave me goosebumps. I feel the same, should say have felt the same....always trying to make all around me proud. I agree, we need to be proud of ourselves. I need to start practicing what I preach which is what your video was all about. Thank you! Keep it going!

5. Ruby,I watch your show as I have time, but you are so inspirational I even watch the re-runs. The first time I saw you on television I thought, "Wow she is beautiful!" The best thing is it comes in various parts. You are a beautiful woman inside and out, and you not only have the desire to lose weight, but to share your journey with others. I am 24 and am a tad overweight. Not enough to stress, but enough to make me uncomfortable. I just wish I had the glow and strive that you disperss. You will make it and I hope you recieve everything this has held you back from. I hear ya'll use the word skinny a lot. You are beautiful. You do not need to be skinny, just healthier. Remember, THICK is sexy too. Good luck and thank you for letting us know real people go through triumph and still prosper.

7. Dear Ruby * you are truely a beautiful person and I pray that you continue to reach all your goals. I feel all your pains and I know that the lose of a loved one can be a side track. But if you keep goin every day with faith in God you can get back to the path of losing. I have been there. In regards to your knees * you may find that the right sneakers for your feet will also help with the support that you need to get past the pain. xoxoxo We will beat this *
Regina Sun, Jul 12, 2009, 5:22 AM
8. Dear Ruby, I agree with Bonnie. Proper footwear will help you with your knee problem. I'm surprised that Reece hasn't already told you that. I'm a personal trainer myself and that's one of the things I emphasize with my clients. The doctor from NY is absolutely right, there's no reason for you to do weight training at this point. Simple resistance training using your own body weight is the proper training method for you. And for Erica to say to increase the incline on the treadmill when you already have knee problems is assenine. Dump them and stick with the fitness guru from NY. Good luck with your progress. You're doing great!!

13. Dear Ruby,I have watched every episode, I feel your struggles. I too have much to loose, I was very sick 3 years ago, ended up in a coma for 3 weeks, they gave my family little hope of my recovering, but here I am! I fought like HELICOPTERS to survive and now I want to get back to living. I just went to the website from your weight loss team. I am a long ways from Savannah but I hope that I can get some info to help me get my life and health back on track. Keep up the great work, I'll stay tuned.

14. Hellooo, to beautiful Ruby! Just checking in, reading the comments. Hope you're doing okay walking in all that daytime heat across America in SUMMER, girl! Listen, I've got two things to say about people pick'in on you: Whine all you want! I do it, too, 'cause losing weight is HARD. You're not just whining to whine...you're whining and winning! Also, I don't give a rat's behind if you pronounce your x's as s's; it's just part of your lovely Southern charm! Everybody in different regions of this great American land has a little bit different lilt to the speech from one another; that's what makes us all special! You are one brave lady for putting yourself out in front of people and taking it all on with a smile and great generosity of spirit; as you can see, most everybody who writes to you are FANS of Ruby! Keep on keep'in on...look at photos/video of yourself at the beginning, and look at you today, just to see how far you've come; you've lost A LOT of pounds! Luv ya, Ruby!
Mary Sun, Jul 12, 2009, 2:40 PM
15. Hi Ruby----Congratualions from Texas! You're doing a great job~Please do another show on that new fitness person from New York. He could give all of us who are over-weight 100#s with knee problems,, some new insight exercise ideas. He mentioned using the recumbent bicycle; for how long? how much? Where does one get that bar you was using to lift? What other ideas did he give you? Maybe just have another show, showing us a day in your life of exercise. I believe also, that most of these trainers don't know how to work with the morbidly obese.Keep up your good work---we have food addiction!

16. Hey Ruby......Can I come live with you....At my heaviest I was 328lbs...Spent 3 years in weight watchers and lost a lot of weight and got down to 180lbs ...yep 148lbs lost....then I fell in love....and found 134 of those lbs again..I just don't feel worthy for some reason and I love your story and totally relate to you and wish I had a friend like you to talk to...now here I am at 314 today and truly hating myself. I feel like every day is going to be my last. I don't eat as much as drinking alcohol is now the bigger demon. I just wish we could share stories. Or that I had someone that could tell me why I do this to myself...Keep up you journey I have so much faith in you.Dawn

21. Ruby, I am soooooo proud of you, you are truely an AWESOME person inside and out. You are beautiful. I am so glad you have been successful losing weight for HEALTH reasons only. My brief story is I am 5"2" and I weighed 195....I first got the ebstein barr virus(mono) which I never had in my life and I was sleeping 24-36 hours straight. I then found out thru a stress test I had HEART DISEASE at AGE 36 and had immediate DOUBLE BYPASS surgery. I was admitted to hospital only four hours after my stress test, I was a walking time bomb. I was terrified and I have now lost weight due to many reasons, deep depression, sleeping all the time and a brief period I was throwing up for about 2 months. I am now 38 years old. I love your show and your attitude and I know you WILL DO IT!!!!!! My deepest condolences on your father. I would love for you to email me back. personally to my email. Love Lisa

24. Ruby I've watched your show from the very start and after this last show I'm sad to say I cant watch any longer. I've seen your struggle and from the very start you never wanted to go in a gym and that DR was your way out. I wish you luck but cant see you reaching your goal without weight training, I wont go into lecture mode. Good luck and I truly wish you the best. Jody

25. Ruby, This is Lisa again. As far as your support system they are all great and it is wonderful to have so many people who love you. I am glad you have gotton over Denny. I know he is helping by being supportive, which I sincerely like that about him, however, I do think he wants you back. After hurting you as he did to such a wonderful, pretty person he should be ashamed and he should make up what he did too you. He even admitted it again while you guys were out alone and you told him straight up if he can't love you for who you are now and before ...when you loose the weight he will not be in your life romantically. You go girl!!!!! He really messed up as I believe in forgiveness but in your case I totally think nomatter what he does can make up for the past and the one comment he made to you in last season about your weight and cannot be with you. You will find your knight in shining armour!!

27. Ruby, I've been watching your journey from the beginning, and I am so proud of you! You should be TOTALLY proud of your progess so far! I'm the "skinny friend" to several women in my life that are either grossly obese or morbidly obese. Each one is an amazing beautiful smart funny woman that I wouldn't trade for anything! I am so blessed to have amazing friends and its obvious you feel the same about your own friends! I can see from the blog that you have a lot of cheerleaders across America, and I want to add my encouragement to the crowd! I just marked the one year anniversary of my mother's passing on July 5th. At frist all I wanted to do was sleep, and every holiday has been difficult, but I want to encourage you * it gets better. No man will ever love you like your Daddy. Let him be the standard for other men in your life to measure up to! (Way to go, letting go of Denny for that very reason) You should be treasured! Read Prov. 31: 29-31 Its all you Lady! God Bless!!!
Doreen Sun, Jul 12, 2009, 9:59 PM
28. Hi Ruby, To be honest, tonight is the first night that I watched your show. It was about you grieving with the death of your father. I had a hard time dealing with the death of my father, but on June 17th, my youngest son (age 26) was killed in an auto accident. When I heard the words that you expressed, saying that you are unable to talk, touch, or see your father again, do know that God has a plan for us all and your father graduated life and is now in God's presence. I've been struggling deeply after the loss of my son, but please know that your words comforted me. I need to get on with my life as you do yours. Continue on your road of success with your weight loss. There are no promises in life, but live each day with love in your heart and you will be happy. Your father was proud of you no matter what your dress size is. There is nothing better than the love a parent has for their child(ren). Keep up the good work.

29. Hi Ruby, I have watched you through your journey I could hardley wait for your new season. I am so sorry about your father. Ruby wow you got to meet Rascle Flat after their concert how awesome is that!!!! Ruby I am the same weight you are at and I admire everything about you. You were so lucky to meet Rascale Flats and I just want to tell you that if I could meet anybody famous I would choose to meet you. I like Doreen lost my son six years ago on his 25th birthday which his birthday is June 27,1978 from undetected diabetes. I love the Lord with all my heart but even with that I miss my son so much. I keep climbing up and up on my weight because I don't go outside of my house much. I just don't have the desire to do so. I am so happy for your weight lose Ruby and pray for me that I can follow your foot steps. God Bless You always Ruby. Love Cindy

30. Hey Ruby! My name is April, and I weight 500 pounds. I am a single mother of three, and about to die a early death. I have always been on the plus side of life, but this is ridicolus.. I will be turning 34 my next birthday[dec.]. but I don't see it happening. I have tried losing weight so many times, suffer depression, anxiety attacks early signs of high blood pressure. Been on several diet programs, and have considered surgery but do not have any insurance. I've been told that surgery is my only option at this point. It's getting to where I am unable to care for myself and my children. I can't stand long enough to even brush my teeth without feeling like I'm falling out. I haven't even done my own shopping in nearly a year and half.i joined a gym but all I could do was the treadmill and only 3 minutes of that. I have to sleep sitting up, sit down to load the dishwasher,to vacuum. I carpool my kids to and from school * and thats not going last very much longer. PLEASE HELP, THANK YOU

31. Ruby, I just started watching your show when it came out on Dvd. I am actually the first one to review it on Netflix. I am currently trying to lose weight too. You are such an inspiration and you truly are a beautiful person. I was so proud of you when you showed your church. I wish you all the luck in the world and theres no telling how far in life you're going to go as every day you grow stronger and more confident, I just think you are truly wonderful Ruby. Thank you for having the courage to let all of us see your journey.

33. Hey Ruby, I think I have a night gown like the one you are wearing! we have good taste don't we! lol I really needed this thanks for sending the link! I have a relationship that keeps me down a lot and I think that is some of my problem! Especially when it comes to my weight! He doesn't encourage me and even talks me down about it! Even though he's the one telling me how much I need to lose the pounds. I have to fix this situation somehow but I'm not really sure how~ Thanks for reminding me that I have to do this for ME!!!!~ love ya keep up the good work!

34. Ruby! Just wanted to chime in and tell you how awesome I think you are. And don't let those conflicting trainers get you down. One thing I've learned in life... nobody knows everything. Reese seems like a nice guy but your knees shouldn't be hurting after 100 pounds lost. Girl, you need some better shoes! And, personally, I don't think you need those heavy weights to get strong. I started pilates at over 350 pounds and I LOVE it. Get you a personal trainer and do pilates twice a week. It will make you strong without hurting you. It's a brilliant exercise that keeps getting more challenging as you get better at it. Don't let people tell you that you're too big to start pilates! They are WRONG. Stand up for yourself. You're committed to this and deep down you do know what's best for you. Don't let them treat you like a child! You rock! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
NYCGirl Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 12:55 PM
35. Ruby you make so sick. You don't want to lose the weight, you eat to much. So everyone on here is thanking you for walking, you need to do more. The show had 2 of the best people to help you lose the weight and you didn't want the help. Why?? Because you have to get off of your fat A$$ and work out! You are a "BIG JOKE". If you really want to lose the weight go on the biggest loser!!!!
Troy West Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 1:18 PM
36. Ignore the posting above its negative. You should try different types of exercise. You are doing well. You have been poorly educated on the whys and hows of youe exercise program. No fault of your own, or even your team. I will post a few of the hows for you. Take it to your doctor. It should help you in deciding what is the next step in your exercise program.
Troy West Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 1:27 PM
37. What Should my Workout Look Like?Everyone should pick a workout that meets their needs, however all workouts should have some common factors:They should be:Written down.Includes Resistance Training.Include Cardiovascular Training. Include a Flexibility Program (such as Yoga). You must have recovery time.
Ronnie Williams Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 2:01 PM
38. Ruby- you should not have fired Reese. He is right about resisitance training. He cared about you. the "GURU" only cared about being seen on TV and getting a nod from his friend the Doctor. You need muscle mass to help u burn fat quicker!!! cardio alone will not give you the results that you are looking for Ruby. You can ask Reese/or another traininer to give you a workout with more variety so that you dont get bored, but that is going to be hard for any trainer to do with you complaining and saying that you cant do it at every session. You need to take some responsibility for your attitude and behaviors about training. Losing your weight will not happen quickly if YOU dont change, not Reese!! BTW- I used to weight 320 lbs, I lost 120 lbs. I exerceise four days per week, including weight lifting! I am not muscular, I am toned.
Sandra Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 3:07 PM
39. Ruby, just watched new episode. Have to say I am built like you and after a few years of weight training and walking with bad knees (footwear is not the issue) and getting no where except adding bulk finally did some research on my own and asking lots of questions figured out the same thing your guru told you. It was the wrong approach to weight loss for my body type. Too bad I didn't figure it out until after I had to have a knee surgery. I think some trainers are not geared to work with obese women. Obese women do not need to build muscle mass with weights, we just need to do resistance using our own body weight and build muscle slowly while burning fat faster. I have also lost over 100 lbs. You should not hurt yourself to work out. And Erin had a bad attitude along with a few of the people commenting on your blog. There is no such thing as mastering a treadmill... it is walking not rocket science. You are such an inspiration and I wish you much success. Hugs and prayers.
Ida June Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 3:54 PM
40. Hey Ruby, I just wanted to say that you are the most beautiful person in side and out that I have ever meant. I know what it is like to strugle with your weight. I weigh 363 this is the highest i have ever weighed and it is not easy. I want to lose it for me and my kids so I can be around for them. You are blessed to have the friends that you have to push you along the eay they do. They do it cause they love you and want you to be healtier and happier. I get told all the time by people around me that I could do it if I watched what I ate and truely put my mind to it and believe me I am trying. I don't eat a lot I am lucky to eat once aday. No, I don't get a lot of exercise because when I am on my feet for to long I get sharp pains down my legs and they give out. I just wanted to say I am proud that you lost 100 pounds keep up the good work!Hugs and kisses
Debi Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 6:44 PM
41. Ruby, Ruby, Ruby! You did the right thing. both your trainers are wrong, the guru is correct in telling you that you need to switch to the recumbent bike. It will so save you from damaging your needs any further. After 4 knee surgeries I can personally tell you that with confidents. You can still do some weight training, but it isn't working the areas you need, as the guru pointed out to you. find someone that understand this and who has been where you are. Work on the recumbent bike, more swimming and walking and you will see the changes even more. I think you are such a wonderful person and you have inspired me to work even harder to lose the weight I have gained. Don't give up, hang in there and i'll be right there along watching your success.God Bless you Ruby.Debi ConnTulsa, Ok.p.s. Denny doesn't deserve you and you can do so much better (just as you are)!!!!

42. OMG! What an inspiration! TY Ruby for sharing your life with us! I lost 230# from gastric bypass and LOTS of good old fashion work,. (AND GOD). Being morbidly obease most of my life, my knees are bone to bone * 34y/o. X-rays really show all the damage in how I wore my body and joints out quickly(and unevenly) * I ended up having more pain now than I did @430#'s. And the gastric lickley caused many other health issues I have that puts me in allot of pain daily, not to mention I can not take most medications to help with the pain because of Gastric bypass. In otherwords. I am pround of you! you are doing it the right way, and the right way for you. You have valid knee pain, and it does need to be addressed! that took courage! the eliptical seemed like "Satin" the first time I was on it, but wow! So much easier for me on my knees! Walking on the shoreline of Lake Michigan also what I found that really got my heartrate up w/o making my knees burn like heck! In the water
Connie campbell Mon, Jul 13, 2009, 6:53 PM
43. PS * I hope many "normal' sized people can see through your story all that they take for granted in thier everyday activities. And may they see what donkey's they make out of themselfs by acting like they are 4!
Heather Burnham Tue, Jul 14, 2009, 10:27 AM
44. Ruby, you inspire me! You are such a beautiful person both inside and out! You are so strong! I am having a hard time breaking the 230 mark, and watching you really helps me stay motivated. Keep up the awesome work! We are all behind you, cheering you on!! Blessings!

45. Ruby,Girl, I just watched the fitness guru episode, and I was so upset with your fitness people. They are rude and unprofessional. I agreed more with the gentleman from New York. If those two parties, however, have confused you, find a third. Good on you for firing them!!I agree with the guru though, that you will bulk if you add weight and not reps to your work out. You can google that fact! Get that recumbant bike, pedal your butt off, literally!!! Move into yoga and pilates slowly, do jazzercise!! If you do do weights, light weights, high reps. You are an inspiration. You go girl!
