Still Not Feeling Bikini Ready? Trunkettes Has the Answer

I rarely get to the beach. There's the drive, the throngs, and oh, did I mention that drive and all the people? This summer, my idea of staycation (beyond spa treatments and theme dinner parties) has been to saunter into my backyard and lounge in the hot tub at the end of the day.
But I'm so excited to poll reaction to the adorable Trunkettes two-piece set my friends at Film Fashion sent over, I'm rethinking my economical staycation choice.
Here's why the Trunkettes line is tops…
In recent years, I've exchanged my bikinis for a rather large collection of one-piece black (sometimes black-and-white for a little variety!) swimsuits designed to shape, shade and camouflage. I just don't want to bother with all that's necessary to fit stylishly into a bikini: the exercising, the not breathing.
But Trunkettes tucks and hides while catering to that innate desire to look cute. I tried out the Funky Fresh bottoms and the Free Spirited 2 tank top with built-in bra, which is more covered up than some of the other styles, like the halt-kini. I simply couldn't resist the catchy names plus I liked the black polka dot and bright blue pattern. So Fifties!
Confession: Thus far, I've only previewed the suit in the comfort of my hot tub with my sister and sister-in-law. At first I was a little disturbed to see that they were wearing something similiar. How did they know? But upon closer inspection, I discovered their suits were comprised of regular one-piece bathing suits paired with black stretchy knee-length shorts not really cut out for the water. No cute pattern, no matchy-matchy style, and certainly, no functionality. Funky Fresh has pockets!
My guests' responses were positive and immediate: "Ooh, how cute," they cooed. "Where did you get it?" Their "swimsuits" were just fine for my backyard, but for Cali beach strolling, these New Yorkers were convinced they needed something more stylish. Like Trunkettes.
Approximately $50 for each half (you can mix and match styles), this swimsuit line costs approximately what you'd pay for Victoria's Secret's pricier suits. But it won't cost you one iota of embarrassment. The shorts and the tank are supercomfy and have just the right amount of coverage. I kept them on long after we'd finished in the hot tub.
And now that I'm feeling securely tucked in, I'm becoming a little bolder: Up next, the Feeling Flirty bikini top in the peacock pattern, the matching high-waist KO bottoms—and that drive to Malibu.
