Sole-ful Lessons: LuckyToes Launch Party

At last night's shoe fetish fantasy, held at Footcandy in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood, I indulged in an OPI nail treatment, oohed and ahhed over the gorgeous designer heels on display—and did some sole searching.

As soon as guests stepped foot through the door, they were asked to choose among three different shoe personalities: Romantic, Classic Elegance and Fun & Flirty.

I decided I was the latter. I usually go for bold, borderline crazy pumps, like this Christian Louboutin neon pink stiletto with zany zipper detailing. Given the edgy wedges I was wearing, LuckyToes expert Austyn Ellese thought I was more the Fierce & Fabulous type. She was probably right, but that wasn't an option so I settled for Fun & Flirty, which was the same category practically everyone else identified with.

"I think every girl likes to think they're Fun & Flirty," laughed the boutique's co-owner Xiomara Zelaya. Well, everyone except for one young guest.

The 2-year-old was reaching for a red Sergio Rossi pump that fit Classic Elegance. But even she, insisted Zelaya, would pick Fun & Flirty under different circumstances. "She probably just couldn't reach it. Usually, little girls tend to go for the sparkly heels," explained Zelaya. And apparently that's something we never outgrow.
