Barbie's Ankles Are Too Fat for Red Soles

Barbie Model

French women don't get fat, but apparently American dolls do.

Hollywood's favorite shoe designer, Christian Louboutin—who designed the hot pink peep-toes for Barbie's Fashion Week debut—is treating the doll to a little plastic surgery for her 50th birthday.

"He found her ankles were too fat," a Louboutin spokeswoman told WWD yesterday, adding that Barbie's revamp would be released just in time for the Cannes Film Festival.

Today, the story is changing. Supposedly Louboutin's peeps are saying it's actually Barbie's arches that aren't fit to wear the French designer's infamous red soles. If you're flat-footed, apparently you're not worthy of paying over $700 for a pair of stilettos.

But if obese Barbie had perfect arches, could she wear the overpriced shoes? If Karl Lagerfeld has anything to do with it, the answer is N-O…

The designer just announced it's "absurd" that a fashion mag from his native Germany has decided to use "real women" in lieu of skinny models. He even went on to say that the people criticizing these double-zero stick figures are "fat mummies."

We think Karl and Christian should get together and have a burger.

    1. These "designers" are worthless. Here they are again blatantly beating women over the head with "you're not good enough" and women will still run to by their overpriced foot/toe/spine ruining creations. The essence of fashion is about artistry and self expression, but it has been to warped and tainted with this aura of pretention and exclusivity. Statements like these just overshadow what good could be made of their clothing for face value. It really makes me wonder if most of the designers that insult women through their "art" have serious mother issues or are just flat out misogynists. Maybe they're just pushing their inner demons on others?
