Ask Style: What are the Best Full-Coverage Foundations?

Becca Stick Foundation
StyleTest Drive

Last week, I clued you in on mystyle's fave makeup for providing a fresh, dewy finish for the skin. But you also asked about full-coverage-style foundation, and my testers have submitted their favorites. Here they are for your enjoyment.

First thing you should know: Most of the best full-coverage foundations, such as Becca or MAC, come in stick form. When in doubt, reach for the stick.

That said, let's start with Kryolan. This company is truly one of the hardest of the hard core, mostly because it's the same brand that movie makeup artists laud for covering up actors' tattoos on set. If it can make Angelina's body art go away, it sure should work for us—and it does. The only downside: It does require a finishing powder if you want it to last all day.

Other makeup artists swear by Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation, which—like It!, the maker of my favorite concealer—was apparently invented for plastic surgery patients. So you know it works!

If you're looking for a lighter product with more of a liquid feel, your options narrow, but start with Clinique's Even Better Makeup or Napoleon's China Doll, both of which offer a good deal of coverage for makeup that doesn't come in a stick or palette.
