Ask Style: How to Look Vampire Chic?

What can I do to get the popular vamp look without overdoing it?

Vampire mania isn't going anywhere, especially with the second installment of the Twilight saga, New Moon, coming out on Friday. For those who don't like it, too bloody bad! It's even spilled into the style world. When the dark trend is done subtly, it can look dead sexy. Otherwise, piling on too many vampy elements will make you look like a Hot Topic employee.
Build the look from the bottom up with some lace-up boots for a hint of Victorian style. As for your legs, what could be darkly sexier than a pair of provocative lace stockings? For the bulk of your outfit, go with a regular sweaterdress. I know it's a yawn after all the racy accessories, but remember, we don't want to overdo it. If you must, buy it in black—the color of choice for vampires everywhere. And if you need an extra layer to take the chill off, nothing reads "vampire" like a deep red velvet jacket.
And now we get to the ultimate accessory for any aspiring vamp worth her fangs: the juicy red lip. There are two schools of thought here: You can go for the bright red of freshly spilled blood or more of a darker brooding burgundy, like Kat Von D's Rosary shade or the Twilight-inspired lip stain Lip Venom V.
Top off your Transylvanian moment by grabbing some vampire-inspired jewelry, like these fang rings (a bit pricey, but hey, they're totally jawsome!), and dabbing on a dark, romantic, Gothic-themed scent from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.
Now you can go off into the night looking fang-tastic!

1. I really don't see anything wrong with dressing like a Hot Topic employee. For years I heard fashionistas poo pooing on Goth and now it's bleeding into everything. Mind your manners.
