Ask Style: How Do I Throw a Stylish SATC Party?
Thu., May. 27, 2010 1:25 PM PDT by StyleSpy
I'm going to see the new Sex and the City 2 movie with my girlfriends. But I want to have a little special cocktail party first. Any ideas?

SATC brings out the über-girlyness in all of us. The most important part, of course, is the fashion. Make sure your besties dress in the style of their fave character (you can send them this link if they need some shopping inspiration).
As for décor? This one's simple: Think pink! Head to your local superstore and pick up an inexpensive bath or children's rug so your gal pals can walk the pink carpet—just like the stars. Pop the SATC series into your DVD player, decorate with some fresh flowers (lilacs are Miranda's fave) and replace your coffee-table books with the latest issue of Vogue.
For drinks, cosmopolitans are a must. As you shake up your cocktails, you can share this fun fact with your friends:
It was actually Madonna, not Carrie & Co., who made the cosmo a worldwide phenomenon.
At a Grammys after-party in 1992, Madge requested a chic, delish drink. Dale "King Cocktail" DeGroff was the bartender that night at the Rainbow Room and whipped up a batch of cosmopolitans. The concoction was a high-end take on the original recipe created by a bartender down in Florida—and it was an overnight hit.
In celebration of Sex and City 2, Dale has create a modern twist on the cosmo: The Cosmopolitan Dreams. Start shaking in style with the recipe below!
The Cosmopolitan Dreams
¾ ounce citrus vodka
¾ ounce Cointreau
¾ ounce cranberry juice
¼ ounce fresh lime juice
2 ½ ounces champagne
Assemble the vodka, Cointreau, and juices in a Boston shaker with ice and shake well to chill. Strain into a champagne glass and fill with champagne. Garnish with a flamed orange peel.
