Vacation Packing: Tips for the Perfect Trip

Style Secret

We don't know about you, but spring break couldn't come at a better time! It's the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and have some fun in the sun. Whether you're retreating to a tropical island or taking a spur-of-the-moment trip to Sin City, stylist Ricci DeMartino's top 10 list of vacation must-haves will ensure you're equipped for a stylishly good time.

  1. Fitted jeans.
  2. Comfortable T-shirt top.
  3. Cropped jacket.
  4. Floral print dress.
  5. White lace or eyelet blouse.
  6. Bathing suit and cover up.
  7. Khaki shorts.
  8. Ethnic or colorful accessories. (DeMartino says brightly hued jewelry will compliment ensembles featuring a blue, white or beige color scheme.)
  9. Scarf. ("[Make sure it] it can double as a shawl or another beach cover up.")
  10. Flat sandal and wedge.

Rolling—rather than folding—garments into place saves packing space and cuts down on wrinkles. "If you still have room, throw in this season's full, longer length skirt," encourages DeMartino. Here are other tips for packing:

Make sure your luggage has wheels. Your back will thank you! Stay organized by packing your clothes and toiletries into separate bags. As much as we hope for the best, the reality is that luggage can get lost. So, prepare your carry-on bag with one complete change of clothing, medicines and other sundries you can't live without. Also, make sure your luggage tags list your name, home and vacation address so that they're retrievable.

You should be all set. Bon voyage!

    1. for more room in your bag, rolling up your clothing helps. it also makes it so there are not as many wrinkles in your clothes. hope it helps!!

    2. I really appreciate these tips, they are brilliant! However, to me it seems as if that list is mostly addressed to a warm tropical or mild weathered destination! I NEED advice about what to pack for a cold destination. Please help me I have about another month to decide what to wear! And im looking to dress to impress!

    3. For cold destination clothes make sure you have things that can be put with many different tops and bottoms. You won't have to pack as much stuff. Make sure you bring cute scarves are a great way to put a little color with a solid black or chocolate brown jacket. Bring some fabulous boots that can bring you from walking on the streets to having fun with you friends at night. I hope this helps!
