Guest Post from Bobbi Brown: You Can Make a Difference!
Thu., Feb. 19, 2009 6:00 AM PST by Bobbi Brown
Makeup maven Bobbi Brown is a longtime supporter of Dress for Success. Read on for her thoughts about this empowering organization, and find out what you can do to help another woman attain self-sufficiency.
As a makeup artist, I know all too well how much a woman's appearance can be tied up with her self-worth. How we visually present ourselves to one another is a reflection of who we are—or who we want to be.
But for many women reentering the workforce, especially in this unforgiving job climate, it's increasingly hard to look the part; confidence and chances for success suffer. That's why Dress for Success is such an incredible organization. It recognizes how critical it is that disadvantaged women have the tools they need. And for most of these women, it starts with a suit.
During Dress for Success' S.O.S.—Send One Suit—Weekend, please join me in donating one new or nearly new interview suit at any dressbarn store. This single kind gesture will give a woman in need a huge helping hand in regaining her independence and self-esteem. The suit, along with Dress for Success' career development services, is just the thing to empower her.
If you're reading this now, I hope you'll think about how the basics you and I may take for granted are luxuries for so many women who just want to be able to work and stand on their own two feet.
Inspired to help? Donate a new or nearly new suit at any dressbarn store this weekend, February 19-22!

1. Wow! How cool that Bobbi Brown has really embraced a cause like Dress for Success. She's always been a woman with great taste and even more importantly, a great attitude toward others. Thanks Bobbi!

2. I've always heard great things about this organization, but to hear it from a long-time supporter like Bobbi Brown it just strengthens my perception of this non-profit group.

5. I am a 47 yr old handicapped woman on disability with nothing but time on my hands. It is very rare that something like this hits me as hard as seeing this. I want to help. Yes I can and will donate a suit or maybe several but I want to do MORE. I don't have much money but I am a retired professional management woman with many years of success under my belt that I would be willing to share, donate anything that could and would benifit another woman in need. I live in the Kissimmee, Florida area and seriously want to donate not only clothing, but my time. How would I go about getting involved in this area or even starting this in this area? Thanks so much for giving me something that brings so much passion to my life.

9. This is a fabulous idea and really important. Just a thought...we need to take it further..women often are the working poor ..with child care.. with rent.. with car costs ..and on and On! So the suit to get a job is great but also consider Need a Suit to KEEP a job * help all along the way.
