Ask Style: Which Products Work Well on Curly Hair?

Ouidad Moisture Lock

What are some great products to use for curly hair that won't weigh my hair down and will keep it moisturized?
—Georgina, via the Ask Style inbox

Style Spy Says: Berry

If you crave moisture, and your hair has any sort of body to it, you should at least try something containing Moroccan argan oil. Josie Maran makes a killer argan oil that many women swear by—for their skin, their nails and especially for their curly or wavy hair.

Otherwise, yes, the hype is true: Ouidad really does know curly hair, and her products are pretty hard to beat when it comes to moisture and fighting frizz. Her Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner is a must-have. Other curly-headed friends insist on Climate Control to eliminate frizz.

If you prefer more old-school methods, but not Moroccan-oil-level old school, there is an in-between. "I've been using Sebastian's Potion 9 since college," one longtime curl girl tells me. But—and we all know this happens with curls—hair can get "used" to a product and start to rebel. When that happens, try switching to Paul Mitchell's sculpting gel.

Your hair will thank you.

    1. I have been to the ouidad salon, and they LOAD your hair with products. I have to be honest, they are not that great. I have super curly hair and first, i do not use shampoo my hair does not really need it. I condition it, and that is enough. After towel drying I mix Fermosi's hair mask with a little serium, about a nickel of both, and that keeps my curls looking great! Remember curly hair is dry hair!
