Is there such a thing as eco-friendly jewelry that isn't made out of wood or straw or something?
—Eileen, via the Ask Style inbox
Yes! In fact, it's even possible to get, you know, real jewelry—metal stuff that shines—and to feel good about the earth at the same time.

After hours of animal gazing while recently trekking through the San Diego Zoo, I stumbled into the gift shop for some much needed respite from the blistering heat. I was delighted to see that beyond the typical mugs and T-shirts, the store stocked a vast array of beautiful goods from around the world. Spread on a table were multicolored beads fashioned into earrings and necklaces. The beads tell an inspiring story…

It's hard to believe Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon is a 42-year-old mom. Her skin glows brighter than most Hollywood twentysomethings. At last night's InStyle Magazine's Summer Soiree, the actress played up her effortless radiance with a relaxed tropical-chic look. We found a similar look for less that lets you cherish these last few weeks of summer:
Kitty's sweetheart strapless dress ($87) has an island feel just like Garcelle's one-sleeved maxi. But the knee-length hem makes it more versatile. Wear it with flats for day, and then for night glam it up with these Garcelle-inspired accessories…

At EcoStiletto's first anniversary fete, guests were treated to lots of green goodies and indulged in makeovers by Josie Maran Cosmetics. We stole a second with the supermodel-turned-beauty guru to talk fashion...
What She's Stylin': I'm wearing Leila Hafzi. I feel like a mermaid. It's as if I have on pajamas, even though this dress is still really elegant.
Fashion Philosophy: I like to think that I'm laid-back but also stylish. I'm really into art and I think everything should have a point of view.
Designer Shout-Outs: I'm into really cutting-edge Japanese designers like Comme des Garςons. I also love newbarKs, which are these Japanese-ish slippers that are really chic. I think they're the new ballet flats.
Brand Boast: Josie Maran Cosmetics is truly chic-ological. The packaging is really glamorous but biodegradable. The formulas are healthy.
Trash to Treasure: I'd never get rid of my makeup compacts. I'd figure out something else to do with them, like turn them into frames.

Recently, mystyle caught up with Leeza Gibbons, who describes her style as "versatile," at a tree planting hosted by Tree People and the Environmental Media Association just in time for Earth Day. "I go from carpool to cocktail party, so I often start with a basic and then add a scarf, or change my shoes." Now how's that for eco-friendly styling—you simply use what you already have!
Leeza's favorite earth-friendly purchase, however, has little to do with styling—and everything to do with sipping. "The most gifty item to give and receive is the personalized thermos. This way, we can get away from the plastic bottle."
More advice for the eco-conscious shopper: "Be prepared to scour online resources, because there are some great ones. Spread the love and start small," she says. "It's easy to get intimidated by greening, but no one is judging how green you are."

I know there are eco-friendly totes and clothes, but what about shoes?
—April, Little Cedar, Iowa
Oh, they're out there, baby! Meet Rebecca Brough, the brain behind Mink, a totally vegan shoe line. Each shoe is named after an animal, though the materials are anything but. "I use recycled material and hardware, organic cotton fabrics, veggie plastic, eco wood, eco cork and much more to create Mink shoes," she tells me.
