UPDATE: I'll be on the Today show tomorrow (Tuesday, November 3) between 9 and 10a ET/PT. Tune in!
I'm writing this after doing cartwheels around the room. This is so awesome—I just confirmed I'll be doing a feature on the Today show again, and besides being excited about working with one of my favorite shows, I'm featuring a segment I'm very passionate about!
It's called "Wearapy," and it's all about how you can "wear" the attitude you want to have by selecting impactful colors and textures of clothing. This is actually the very reason I've got a passion for fashion. Clothing is fascinating to me because of the power it conveys—not only to other people but also to the one wearing it. All my energy and confidence is due to the choice I make each morning to wear what makes me feel bright, positive and secure. And now I'm teaching you how to do the same!
Check back here for info about when the segment will air so you can battle those blah days!

Our li'l Mel! (That's what her close friends call her, and she said I could, too!) This beautiful, soft-spoken sista was a huge hit on our set, not only because she was too sweet for us to tear into her style (it killed me to see Mel cry), but also because she was the very first fashion victim we made over on the new set. (Sometimes TV shows air in a different order than they were shot.)
I loved Mel from the start—which, darnit, made it really hard for me to stay stern about her sloppy style, because I hated to hurt her feelings. But the more I got to know how fantastically smart and savvy her personality and business sense were, the more adamant I felt I had to be about my new friend's fashion.
Mel is special because she kicked off our show with a great start and left us all in tears with such a terrific transformation. I follow up on Mel's Facebook now and check out her profile pic often to make sure the hoodies don't come back in full swing again! (What am I, the style stalker?)
Heart you, Mel! Thanks for cutting the official fashion ribbon! :)
Tune in for a new episode of How Do I Look? this Sunday @ 9/8c!

I get so many emails about Crystal and Kristy that I just had to stop and admire how powerful fashion can be! It has affected these two very different people in amazing ways and connects a nation of viewers who relate.
Crystal is everything fashion should be: bold, daring, independent and fun. I had so much fun dialing through options with her, because this girl looked bangin' in anything with an attitude. How awesome was it to see the vamped-up version of her revealed! My fave part wasn't just Crystal's new look but her new outlook. She was able to see the polished, poised side of the successful young woman she's becoming.
And Kristy—oh, she had me actually wishing I could go back in time and have a fantastic teacher like her, with such heart. Normally my job as How Do I Look? host consists of prying bad fashion away from an unwilling victim who sees herself in just one way. And Kristy's way of seeing herself was in the little lives she impacts: her students. Wow!

I still can't believe my eyes when I watch Tips Today every Saturday at 10a. Me...Jeannie Mai...sharing a screen with THE Today show's beautiful Natalie Morales! Not only is being on the show such an incredible honor, but I couldn't have picked a better person to pass around some fashion tips with.
What I loved learning about Natalie is that besides being a zesty blend of Brazilian and Puerto Rican and speaking both Spanish and Portuguese, she has also shared the stomping grounds of my people! She was born in Taipei, Taiwan—too cool.

There are certain things besides Fergie's lyrics that are "2000 and late": following the FDA's food pyramid and consuming 6-11 bread servings a day; having thick acrylic nails; wearing Ugg boots in 90-degree weather...with jeans. (Stop it, L.A.!)
And shoelaces—tying 'em, tripping over 'em, frustrating kids with the loopholes of learning 'em (thanks, Drew!)—I'm over 'em altogether!

Thanks to everyone for watching this week's episode with Chastity!
I’ve been getting emails asking about a few of my outfits, which I’m so glad you all dig—because not only were they stylish, but some were steals as well! If you’re like me, you majorly heart great deals. Count on me to always give ya the haute hookup from head to toe, cuz with fashion, you can never have TMI.
I like to have all my outfits centered around a signature pop piece (noted below in capital letters). Think of yourself as a yummy banquet table of fashion, with the focus on one centerpiece. Helps keeps you fashionably fun without going overboard.
From Edith's Episode
GREEN STRIPED SHIRT: Ben Sherman; still half off!! I bought this at the flagship store here in L.A. for 40 percent off, and believe it or not, YOU can get it for half off online here. For a fun layered effect, find a thin cotton button-up with a bright print to wear peeking through. Twelve by 12 (by Forever 21) has fantastic low-priced shirts perfect for layering.
Makeup: MAC's Greensmoke shadow with lots of Smolder kohl liner.
Hair: I did a playful "pomp" with a fierce backcomb with my ultimate never-leave-home-without Mason Pierson. This brush can cost quite a buck, but I've found this site to be great with free shipping and price. Don't even think twice; own this. It will transform your tresses.

Wow, what an incredible night! To fully celebrate this week's episode in style, my great friend Fawn threw a PJ party with yummy food and chocolate so we could all watch and journey through Edith's transformation together. I felt so privileged to see all my busy moms and wives (and even their husbands) gather together on a work night for this. Thank you, guys!
As for our guest this week, Edith—well, an hour was just not enough time to show what a passionate, deserving, loyal and loving mother and wife this woman is. To see how adoringly she spoke about raising her two beautiful daughters (drop-dead beautiful!) and then hear her portray herself as "disgusting to look at" just broke my heart. You don't get to see this so much in the episode, but Edith is wicked intelligent and so full of gratitude.
I knew the hardest part would be taking her through the perception exercise, where we had to comment and talk about all the other women in the café. (She kept whispering, "I can't talk about these other women! What if they hear us?!") When she realized the whole point was to prove her wrong—that women her size can dress beautifully—it totally broke down that wall of disbelief she had been tormented behind. What a moment!

YAY for the season premiere! Did you catch it?
Yano, I received this episode on DVD through my producer weeks ago and refused to watch it because I wanted to experience it with you guys. What did you think? Could you relate to Crystal?
Now that we've all seen it, I gotta say—Crystal was no easy sista. As awesome as it was that she was defiant, outspoken and clearly confident of her great looks, she was outta tune with what the rest of the world thought. And when it came to working her fam's business, she needed to get that down first.

Hello, my fashion friends! I'm Jeannie Mai, and it is such an incredible honor to be counting down the days until our favorite show returns with fresh new episodes.

It's How Do I Look? like you've never seen it before, and I'm beyond humbled to celebrate it with you!

New How Do I Look? host Jeannie Mai is taking a break from all the makeover magic to share her latest fashion and beauty faves.
1. Seamless Spanx
Yes, I wear 'em too. There is nothing like the feeling of sexy, slimming support under anything you wear, and those seamless, high-waist shorts feel uh. Mazing!
2. Skinny Scarf
Look for a dainty one with metallic thread, like gold or silver. Instant laid-back luxe for day or night!
3. Dangly Diva Earrings
Ask Beyoncé: These are lifesavers when you need to take an outfit from simple to Sasha Fierce. Forever 21 has great selections for under $10, and I love perusing the sale racks at Anthropologie or Urban Outfitters for funky ones, too.
4. #219 Pencil Brush From MAC
Don't deny it—every diva deserves to feel dangerous, and this brush does it. Simply dip into any of your favorite metallic, dark, shimmery shadows (like Stila's Platinums palette) and use like a pencil under your entire lower lash line. Next, practice the slinky strut.
How Do I Look? has a new look, a new loft and a fabulous new host. Be sure to catch the season premiere Thursday, July 24, at 9/8c!
