Michelle Obama

Because we're talking about our beloved Michelle Obama, this fashion critique will take the form of a compliment sandwich. Here we go...

The first lady brought a much-needed dose of color to a rainy Veterans Day in Arlington, Va., with her lovely teal tweed J.Crew coat. It worked beautifully with the Maria Pinto frock she wore underneath.

But we so could've done without the black cutout belt and matching patent leather boots. What was she thinking?! They totally ruin the look. A pair of black pumps would've been enough to winterize the outfit.

Then again, her makeup and hair looked really pretty!

Michelle Obama, Sesame Street

Reason no. 394 we love Michelle Obama? She's helping us with the seemingly impossible task of teaching our little ones to eat their veggies! To mark the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street, the first lady will appear on the children's program tomorrow, encouraging kids to grow their own tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and carrots.

"If you eat these vegetables, you will grow up to be big and strong like me," explains Michelle, who dressed for the occasion in a green cardi. "I know you are going to like these vegetables because in addition to being healthy, they really taste great, too."

No word yet on whether Cookie Monster or Oscar the Grouch stormed off the set in protest.

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama

We've said it before and, dammit, we'll say it again: Barack and Michelle Obama sure do make one good-looking couple! Last night, the president and first lady walked down the runway hallway hand-in-hand to the East Room of the White House, where they hosted an event celebrating classical music.

Barack looked as sharp and as handsome as ever in his suit, but on to his better half, who keeps things interesting for us: Michelle dazzled in an appropriately timeless white double-face wool sheath from Talbots, one of her fave fashion brands. Nous t'adorons!

Fans of the first lady can buy the same frock from the retailer. At $199, the number isn't exactly cheap, but it's a classic silhouette that you'll be able to wear over and over again—and you can brag about owning a dress that Michelle has hanging in her closet!

Michelle Obama

Fans of Michelle Obama know she loves leopard. She friggin' dressed up as the fashion world's fave feline (next to Hello Kitty, of course!) for Halloween.

Yesterday, the first lady wore a fabulous winter-white J.Crew cardigan with sequined spots for the launch of a mentoring program for local high school girls. She wore the same sweater once before, to church. Yes, you read that right! Michelle does not take a break from looking amazing, even on Sundays.

Like last time, we're wild about how she styled the leopard-print layer: a dusty rose top, brown pinstriped trousers and a beautiful cutout belt. Purr-fection!

Michelle Obama, Glamour

Just days after Jay Leno failed to get any insight from Michelle Obama about her fashion choices, we get this gold nugget from her interview with Glamour:

"People are always going to have opinions, and people have a right to their opinions, particularly when you're the First Lady; you're representing the nation. So I can't be surprised that people are interested. But I've tried to be at peace with the choices that I make first, and then be open to everyone else's reflection."

Our thoughts on her December cover? Stunning! The fabulousness, which resembled her ensemble at the opening ceremony of the 121st IOC Session, would make for the perfect party look this holiday season.

Last Friday, Michelle Obama appeared on The Jay Leno Show wearing one of our favorite dresses in her wardrobe: the rose-print Thakoon dress she debuted at the first presidential debate more than a year ago.

She was there to answer questions for the "Ten at Ten" segment. No, Jay didn't ask any fashion-related questions, as we would have liked—unless you count what daughters Malia and Sasha would be wearing for Halloween. (She said that was top secret!) Still, it was so wonderful to learn that Michelle had a terrifc sense of humor on top of an impeccable fashion sense. ("We don't have enough time," she joked, when asked about Barack's most annoying habit.) Plus, we enjoyed seeing her flash that gorgeous smile of hers the entire time.

Watch the clip above to see what we mean. Then, visit mystyle's Michelle Obama: Shop Her Style! gallery to get the look of her lovely Thakoon dress for just 30 bucks!

Barack Obama, Sasha Obama, Malia Obama, Michelle Obama, Obama Family

After seeing the official portrait of the first family this morning, which was the perfect start to our weekend, BTW, we admire Michelle Obama even more. Why? Michelle ditched the vibrant color, graphic prints and bold accessories for the Annie Leibovitz shoot and opted for a modest black dress so that the rest of her beautiful family could shine. She didn't even give the critics fodder to complain about her arms (they're covered up!).

Michelle Obama Action Figures

Don't call Jailbreak Toys' new Michelle Obama "miniature Barbie." The novelty maker, which put out a Barack statuette last year, is billing the 6-inch-tall likeness as an "action figure." Good! Who else wanted to rip their hair out when they learned that Barbie—with her already unrealistic body type—still wasn't perfect in Christian Louboutin's eyes?

Fans of the fashionable first lady have even more to rejoice about, because not one but three figurines will be available starting Nov. 20. Each wears a different memorable Michelle dress: 1) the red-and-black Narciso Rodriguez number she wore on election night (Note the missing sleeves!); 2) the purple Maria Pinto sheath she had on the day of the infamous fist bump during the campaign trail; and 3) the floral Donna Ricco frock she donned for her appearance on The View. All have Michelle's toned arms and strong facial features.

The plastic dolls also come with a disclaimer: "This product is not formally endorsed by or affiliated with Michelle Obama. (But we really hope she likes it.)" One thing we know the notoriously sensible shopper will love? The $12.99 price tag! So yeah, you might want to preorder yours today. Young girls and their mommies will no doubt want to get their hands on this haute toy.

Keep reading to see the real Michelle wearing the dresses shown on the action figures. Then, visit our Michelle Obama: Shop Her Style! gallery for more of the first lady's fabulous fashions.

Michelle Obama, Barack Obama

For three straight weeks it's been one fabulous dress after another with Michelle Obama. But last night, the fashionable first lady took a break from the world of dress-up for a noble cause. Michelle, together with Barack, tried to get 150 local middle school students interested in science by hosting an evening of stargazing on the South Lawn of the White House. She stylishly braved the cold in a cinched blue Zero + Maria Cornejo wool jacket with layers of purple and gray underneath, taupe trousers and black ballet flats. Pardon the pun, but the girl's got looking good down to a science!

Prince Albert, Michelle Obama

Chicago may have lost out on its bid to host the 2016 Olympics, but at least the first lady represented her hometown well! Michelle Obama (shown posing next to Prince Albert of Monaco), along with the president and Oprah Winfrey, attended the opening ceremony of the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagen wearing a luminous burnt-gold cocktail dress with fitted bodice and full pleated skirt. A trio of brooches at the neck of the frock highlighted Michelle's beautiful smile.

Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama has never presented herself as a conventional first lady, so it's no surprise she went so cazh while traveling on vacation. Still, everyone seems to have an opinion. We're of two minds: Hey, if she wants to throw on a pair of khaki shorts and pin up her hair in a bun, why shouldn't she? Her husband is the leader of the free world—emphasis on free. Then again, we're all about savvy travel style. (Check out the Jet Set Style gallery featuring celebs en route.) The last time we flew across the Atlantic, we left the jeans in a suitcase.

So what do you think? Was Mrs. O off base in showing her thighs? Take the poll below, then shop her more stellar style in our extensive gallery!

Ciao, bella! Michelle sure knows how to make an entrance. First she touched down in Moscow in a bright coral ensemble. Then she stepped off Air Force One in Rome earlier today wearing this sunny Jason Wu sheath and oversize green flower brooch. The first lady is literally coloring our world radiant!

A Thakoon tweed jacket, Sonya Rykiel translucent belt and hot pink. These are things Michelle has worn before, but never all at once. We got to see what that looked like when she gave the keynote speech at the Greater DC Cares Awards Luncheon earlier this week—and boy, were we blown away!

The first lady's fuchsia top marvelously updated her classic black and white textured cropped jacket, while her favorite clear belt with bright blush buckle pulled the outfit together.

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama

Michelle's date-night look has improved dramatically since her last outing (she wore a casual top and didn't do a thing to her hair). And with good reason: Her rendezvous with Barack Saturday evening was on a grander scale and included dinner and a show in the Big Apple.

To the delight of everyone in town, the president took his wife to see the Broadway revival of the August Wilson play Joe Turner's Come and Gone. He was honoring a promise he'd made to her during the campaign. (Cue the awws!)

The first lady looked nothing short of ravishing in a square-neck black cocktail dress with ruffled tiers, which she accessorized with a bright blue clutch and Jimmy Choo lantern heels—the same ones the eco-chic fashionista wore during her previous outing with the hubby.
