Holiday bra discussion usually centers around Victoria's Secret's diamond creations. (This year Marisa Miller gets the honor of wearing the $3 million Harlequin Fantasy bra.) Extravagant decadence, however, doesn't protect you from the swine flu. Dr. Elena Bodnar's soon-to-be released creation does.
The Convertible Bra-Mask is designed to break in half, providing two cups to protect against harmful toxins. Bodnar created it after the Chernobyl nuclear accident, wanting a safety product that was "simple, economical and always on you."
Why you couldn't just carry a disposable surgical mask in your purse is beyond us. And who really wants to do an impromptu striptease in public? Not to mention the leverage this could give men if they're caught sniffing a woman's lingerie!
And no, this isn't a Friday the 13th prank. That's Bodnar in the pic above, winning an Ig Nobel Prize for her invention last month. Seriously.

Not only are Bra Barrettes ($8-$40) intended to keep bra straps in place underneath clothing, some also come decorated—with a single charm or rhinestones—so you can expose them as fashion accessories when wearing tank tops. Here's what we thought of the charmed versions.
Pros: It kept my bra straps in place.
Cons: I don't think it's fashion-forward. It seems immature. The charms aren't comfortable under clothing.

When Becks said adios to those ultra-snug undies, Armani did the only logical thing. They hired another soccer player to fill his, er, briefs. A much younger Cristiano Ronaldo will go shirtless for Armani's underwear and jeans campaign come next summer. We don't know about you, but we just love the whole boy-next-door look. Well done, Armani.

I'd like to give my "girls" a nonsurgical lift. Any tips?
—Elyssa E., Castro Valley, California
Unfortunately, there are no miracles. There are Miracle Bras, and the right fit on one of those babies can make you feel like you've not just gotten a little lift but bought an entirely fresh set of knockers. A good Victoria's Secret store comes with a lady with a measuring tape who can tell you whether it's your breasts that are the problem—or your bra. Don't write off your boobs—blame the corporations!
If you've already trolled the lingerie aisles, a colleague recommends something a bit different: a lifting piece of shapewear called ChicShaper. It targets just the area of which you speak.

Look ma, no hands! On Monday night, Victoria Beckham attended the Costume Institute Gala wearing men's pajamas. And now she's dressed down to her undies in a new ad campaign for Emporio Armani underwear, which launches today. If this sounds at all familiar, well, it's because Mr. Beckham beat her to the camera-hogging by baring nearly all in ads for men's underwear, also by Armani. We're loving the lace. And the 'do, too! In fact, we're dreaming of Jeannie!
Yes, we know, we know…Posh is a shameless self-promoter. But we love her nonetheless. Can't get enough of her. Can easily imagine doing a girls' night of martinis with her. But what about you? Are you sick and tired of Posh? Do you think Victoria Beckham is overexposed? Take the poll!

How do you keep your bra from showing underneath a dress that's made from thin material?
—Laura, New York
Good question! I was disappointed with Nicole Kidman for ruining an otherwise stunning Stella McCartney dress while recently promoting her new flick Australia. All I could see were the ivory bra-encased boobies!
In the spirit of the new economy—or terrifying lack thereof—I offer you a solution as inexpensive as it is effective: Get thee to the Jockey Web site and stock up on these $20, form-fitting camis, which come in every color necessary.

The makers of Lipo in a Box ($31-88) claim the shapewear product creates an instant slimming effect on silhouettes while providing all-day comfort. We had Style staffers test drive the high-waisted thong, high-waisted brief with legs and high-waisted capris. Read on to see what they thought.
Pros: It was very soft and comfortable while still providing great coverage and support. It gave me a slimmer, smoother mid-section and also sucked in the love handles. The thong style, in particular, was great because it was comfortable to wear under jeans without getting lines. Plus, it came with a great delicates bag for safe washing that worked well.
Cons: The hooks for the bra straps caused some riding-up action whenever I sat down.

Here's what caught our eye on the Web this week:
Victoria Beckham's playful commercial for her new fashion line pokes fun at her quirky Marc Jacobs ads. Who knew Posh had such a great sense of humor? (Victoria Beckham Collection)
We're not at all surprised that instead of turning to chocolate like the rest of us, Posh drank "loads of water" to calm her nerves before her successful Selfridges launch. (Just Jared)
Natalie Portman, on the other hand, wasn't so successful as a designer. Té Casan says ta-ta. (E! Online)
Gumby Madonna poses in Paris for Louis Vuitton's new ad campaign. We feel the urge to start up yoga. (NY Daily News)
Another reason we wish we were Michelle Obama: every designer want to dress her. Just look at these 42 sketches! (WWD)
We'd even settle for being her daughter for a day. How fab are Bonnie Young's designs for Malia and Sasha? (WWD)
What's new, pussycat? Apparently nothing. The Dolls' new line for Bebe is all about cheetah, lace and circa 2001 Louis Vuitton-style graffiti. (Bebe)
Mr. & Mrs. Spencer Pratt spend next to nothing on their wedding bands. Makes sense considering platinum wouldn't get any press. (Glamour)
