Let's get a few things straight.
There are three looks that work for Beyoncé: around the way girl, little miss perfect glamour queen and bootylicious sex kitten. Not edgy, high-fashion superstar. (Leave that to Rihanna, B. Seriously.)
Lady Gaga, on the other hand? Anything goes. Just nothing, well, normal. Sure, we get on her case sometimes, but we have to admit she sure as heck keeps the fashion watching interesting.
Got it? Good!
So you can imagine how annoyed we were when we saw the duo's music video for "Video Phone." B. bites Rihanna's style with futuristic shades and an outfit straight out of RiRi's "Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova)" video: a bold shoulder jacket, garter belt and thigh-high boots. (She also channels pinup legend Bettie Page.) Meanwhile, a way toned down Gaga bops around in a leotard, high heels and long, flowy hair. Yawn.
Watch the video above and check out the madness for yourself.

She speaks! Good Morning America aired part of Rihanna's sit-down with Diane Sawyer today. The full interview will be shown on 20/20 tomorrow night. The clip marked the first time the public had heard the singer address what happened on that ill-fated night that left her badly beaten by ex Chris Brown.
Unlike the silly bow tie that Chris wore on Larry King Live to not tell his side of the story, Ri-Ri looked beautiful and poised in a dress that let the world know that she was doing fine. The frock's bold shoulders suggested that she was a stronger woman as a result of the ordeal, while the white hue conveyed a sense of clarity and a new beginning.

Last Friday, Michelle Obama appeared on The Jay Leno Show wearing one of our favorite dresses in her wardrobe: the rose-print Thakoon dress she debuted at the first presidential debate more than a year ago.
She was there to answer questions for the "Ten at Ten" segment. No, Jay didn't ask any fashion-related questions, as we would have liked—unless you count what daughters Malia and Sasha would be wearing for Halloween. (She said that was top secret!) Still, it was so wonderful to learn that Michelle had a terrifc sense of humor on top of an impeccable fashion sense. ("We don't have enough time," she joked, when asked about Barack's most annoying habit.) Plus, we enjoyed seeing her flash that gorgeous smile of hers the entire time.

Fashion's fat saga continues. If you thought Christian Louboutin's Barbie plastic surgery debacle was bad, you won't believe the latest Ralph Lauren news.
First, the designer Photoshops Filippa Hamilton till she's no more than twigs in plaid. And now, he's fired the 5-foot-10-inch, 120-pound model because "of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract." Translation? Filippa is too fat.
Thankfully, in the clip above of yesterday's Today Show, the 23-year-old beauty declares she's proud of her healthy size 4 body—adding that she thinks the all-American brand owes American women an apology, "a big apology."
Maybe a sorry statement will come. Maybe it won't. But one thing's certain: Ralph Lauren doesn't give an ef about offending Australian women. Just take a look at the latest R.L. ad to surface on the Internet of a window display in Sydney, Australia. It sickly makes even Victoria Beckham look, well, fat.

Country music isn't necessarily our cup of tea but we do love Taylor Swift. The 19-year-old has a fashion sense that parallels actresses 20 years her senior. Do you remember how gorgeous she looked at the Country Music Awards? Well, in the new video for her single "Fifteen," the singer embraces her cutesy side, reminiscing about high school in a ruffled white halter.
With fall well underway, the dress isn't exactly practical, but it would make the perfect nightie. All we can think about right now is curling up with a blanket wearing Flora Nikrooz's Lisette chemise ($42 $31.50), Victoria's Secret's Whispery babydoll ($35) or Oscar de la Renta's Flamenco Dance chemise ($52). And maybe we'll take out our yearbook so we can look back at our early years, too.

Yes, yes, David Letterman may have exposed his bosses at CBS to millions of dollars in legal risks, and he may have destroyed a persona loved by millions of women, and he may have created a hostile work environment at one of the biggest networks in the world, angering the country's most influential women's group in the process.
But what about his tie?
This is a style site, after all, and we're not above milking a painful scandal for all it's fashionably worth. Sharp-eyed observers may have noted that Letterman not only spoke soberly during his Monday apology for workplace hanky-panky, but also dressed the part, wearing what appeared to be a somber black suit and black-and-white striped tie. In fact, compared with how he usually dresses—and the shiny, silvery suits worn by other talk show guys like Bill Maher—Letterman looked like he'd just come from a funeral. Maybe he was mourning his image.
Letterman is no stranger to striped ties. He loves striped ties. His publicity shots feature him in a gaily hued shade of red striped tie. His interview with Barack Obama had him in a tie with sunny yellow in it. But Letterman rarely wears a tie with stripes inkier than black holes. If he wears a dark suit, he usually goes with a pop of color in the tie.
Call it a mea culpa, head to toe.
