At last night's GQ Men of the Year Party, Jessica Stroup and Amanda Seyfried showed off their legs in itty-bitty shorts.
Granted, it's still relatively warm in Hollywood but it is almost Thanksgiving. Are shorts really appropriate?
When you look as good as the 90210 star, the answer is yes. The lace on her Amber Valletta for Monrow metallic shorts gave the summery item a more winter feel—and the tailored jacket and booties ensured she didn't look totally bare.
But Amanda's crochet top made us shiver.

The '80s have been back for a while now, so seeing blue eye shadow on the red carpet is no surprise. In fact, the color is one of the hottest makeup trends for winter.
But blue eye shadow and a cobalt dress? That can be a little much.
At an awards gala last night, Eva Longoria Parker took inspiration from her Ina Soltani dress and went overboard with a lighter shade of blue on her lids. At least Kate Walsh broke up the Smurf palette with a bold lip during her Letterman appearance a couple days before.

When Michael Jackson wore it, it was the coolest thing ever. When Beyoncé tried it, we thought it was just a joke. But clearly, the one-glove trend is catching on. First, AnnaLynne McCord ruins what could have been a cute jeans look by slipping one arm into fishnets. Then, just days after David Letterman is caught red-handed with a sex scandal, Eliza Dushku appears on his show one-glove-handed.

After years of worrying about tan lines, we finally traded in our triangle tops for bandeau bikinis this summer. But summer is over. For most of us, that is. Apparently, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Taylor Momsen still think it's OK to wear a strapless band across their chest—off the beach, no less! The Gossip Girl star's metallic ensemble doesn't bother us too much. It's basically a take on spring's popular slashed trend. But we're not fans of exposing a midriff with a suit.

Stila makeup artist Sarah Lucero was right last year when she said the vamp look isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Just the other day, Rihanna paired a dark lip with her yellow streaks. On RiRi, anything goes—but Selita Ebanks' dark makeup drastically ages her. If you're going to try the vamp lip, make sure to keep the rest of your face natural to avoid looking like you're off to a Halloween bash.

Over-the-knee boots are one of fall's hottest trends. So it's no surprise stars are already slipping into the dramatic shoe. In a soft suede, the footwear can look classy, as shown by Jenna Dewan at a Nylon party. But in black leather, you run the risk of looking a little too Pretty Woman, ahem, Kim Kardashian. You can get away with leather if you go for flats like Miley Cyrus or by wearing your boots over jeans, as Kate Hudson did during a recent girls' night out.

Had Sandra Bullock paired her Lanvin dress with peep-toes at last night's premiere of All About Steve, maybe she could have gotten away with the edgy style. (She's a classic jeans and tee girl in our book). But instead, Sandra decided to cut off her legs with unflattering ankle booties! We've seen similar styles on celebs like Maria Sharapova, Alexis Bledel and Sophia Bush. But the only person who really works the shoe is Alexa Chung. So clearly you need cutting-edge style and toothpick legs.

I own a pair of clogs. They're tweed and lined with lamb's wool, and I love them. But I would never think of wearing them with anything but pants. Obviously, Ashley Olsen and Shenae Grimes have a different opinion when it comes to the Swedish classic. The Olsens can make anything cool, so Ashley gets a pass, but Shenae doesn't have the same styling skills. A pair of clog sandals would have looked less costumey but still give off that '70s vibe.
I'll probably continue to obscure my clogs with my jeans, but what about you? Would you wear clogs with shorts or even a skirt? Vote in the poll below! Then head over to mystyle's Don't Try These Trends at Home gallery for celebrity looks that should never ever see the light of day.

Last fall, high-heeled oxfords were all the rage. But recently, celebs have been stepping out in a traditional lower heel. While Emma Watson's wingtips (or brogues as the Brits call them) are adorable, we would have preferred them with skinny jeans. The shine in Olivia Palermo's oxford flats, however, works for a night out on the town. And if we had the socialite's long legs, we might consider wearing them too.

We're all for tuxedo jackets and fedoras, but bow ties are an extreme take on the menswear trend. True, Diane Kruger pulled off this Chanel number at the Inglorious Basterds Melbourne premiere, but she's had plenty of practice perfecting her bow tie style. Newcomers to the trend, like Rihanna in Dolce & Gabbana at the Met Gala, haven't been so lucky.

Harem pants are fine for Halloween when you want to channel MC Hammer or Barbara Eden from I Dream of Jeannie. But in regular life, we find them extremely unflattering. Harem shorts on the other hand? We're not so sure. Naomi Watts would have looked leaner if her shorts didn't billow at the hips and taper at the knees. But we loved Beyoncé's khaki harem short and embellished belt ensemble. For starters, the belt nipped her waist (Naomi's was a tad too low), and high heels guaranteed B wouldn't look squatty.

Ever since Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears showed up to the 2001 American Music Awards in coordinating jean getups, double denim has made us cringe. But eight years later, we've decided to take another look. We're still not keen on a denim uniform, like Christina Milian's acid-wash jeans and matching jacket. But worn in different washes, denim on denim can look very modern—as Stephanie Pratt shows with an oversized light denim shirt and dark-wash jeans.

Nude dresses have been on trend for a while now. But recently, we've been noticing stars pairing a bold lip with their neutral gowns. When Angelina Jolie and Drew Barrymore painted their pouts red, they exuded Old Hollywood glamour. But something about Bryce Dallas Howard just doesn't hit the mark, making us nervous to try the trend at home. What do you think about this lippy look? We're all for experimenting with hairstyles, but we're not fond of pain. We can't imagine what a headache Kim Kardashian must have had when she yanked her hair back into a Tomb Raider braid. Paris Hilton's equally tightly-pulled-back 'do was more reminiscent of when she channeled Barbara Eden on an episode of American Dreams (Victoria Beckham sported a similar I Dream of Jeannie style for an Armani ad earlier this year).
But Salma Hayek got it right. Her ponytail is high enough to make a statement but loose enough so as not to cause an instant face-lift.

Dakota Fanning showed off the '70s socks-with-sandals fashion statement this week while filming a scene for her upcoming movie set in that decade. But it looks like the trend is making a comeback, which is adorable for adolescents and models channeling Barbie. We're just not so sure anyone past their teenage years can successfully pull it off. Jena Malone makes one thing certain, though: If you're going to attempt this look, do not wear sheer trouser socks.
