Dakota Fanning, Teen Vogue, Cover

We almost didn't recognize Dakota Fanning on the December/January cover of Teen Vogue. The 15-year-old actress looked all grown up in a vibrant yellow-and-blue Gucci dress, which made her eyes pop. "I'm usually pretty girlie. I love bright colors," she tells the mag. "I'd say I'm kind of modern with a fun twist."

The star of New Moon also dishes that she and Kristen Stewart are practically BFFs. "We became really close," Dakota says, "like we'd known each other for our whole lives. We talk all the time."

Hmmm, we don't know how to feel about that. We're all about girl power, but we hope that K.Stew's sourpuss disposition—and bad style—doesn't rub off on our little miss Dakota. By the looks of things, she's following in the fashionable footsteps of Emma Watson and Selena Gomez, so we're not too worried.

Taylor Momsen

Here's what caught our eye on the Web this week:

Taylor Momsen kicks off Clinique and Teen Vogue's Fresh Faces tour, giving us hope that she'll wipe all the gook off her own face and return to 16-year-old freshness. (People)

Emma Watson is using her fab sense of style to do some good. Her new clothing line with People Tree will be produced in Third World countries to promote free trade and get youngsters in the know about ethical issues. No complaints from us if every teen starts dressing like Hermione! (Limelife)

Suri Cruise click-clacks through Boston. A 3-year-old in high heels? We're not so sure about this one. (E! Online)

Designers show diapers for spring. Lady Gaga really is taking over the world. Lord help us all. (NY Mag)

Speaking of spring trends, here's a beauty one we'd actually toy with: crazy colored nails. (Fashionista)

Finding a fab fall sweater at an off-price retailer like TJ Maxx is a cinch when you follow the right tips. (The Budget Babe)

So much for a step in the right direction. "It" model Lara Stone says she doesn't want to be the fat one anymore. She's a size 4. No, not a 14, an f-o-u-r. (Black Book)

Olivia Palermo, Emma Watson

Last fall, high-heeled oxfords were all the rage. But recently, celebs have been stepping out in a traditional lower heel. While Emma Watson's wingtips (or brogues as the Brits call them) are adorable, we would have preferred them with skinny jeans. The shine in Olivia Palermo's oxford flats, however, works for a night out on the town. And if we had the socialite's long legs, we might consider wearing them too.

What do you think of the trend? Vote in the poll below, then head over to mystyle's Don't Try These Trends at Home gallery to see celebrity looks we really hate.

Emma Watson
Style Shout-out

We're not sure if it's something in the water or simply their innate prim-and-proper nature, but unlike Americans, when English lasses come of age they do so in a downright distinguished way. No peek-a-boo bras or thigh-baring minis. Emma Watson, 19, has been all over the red carpet promoting Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince this week in a steady succession of sophisticated (but not too mature!) looks. She told David Letterman that she'll be attending college in the States in the fall. Let's hope her blueblood style rubs off on her dorm sisters.

Michelle Obama, Carla Bruni

Here's what caught our eye on the Web this week:

Mary-Kate Olsen

Here's what caught our eye on the Web this week:

No, that's not a freeze-frame of David Bowie in the '80s cult flick Labyrinth. It's Mary-Kate Olsen inside the March issue of Interview magazine. (Just Jared)

BTW, M-K and her sis, Ashley, will be designing menswear for—gaspactual men! (StyleWatch)

You know the economy is bad when queen of excess Kimora Lee Simmons is forced to downsize her usually lavish Baby Phat fashion show into a quick "have a drink, thank you, I salute you, but okay, now we have to go home" small affair. (WSJ.com)

One of our girl crushes, Mandy Moore, is also feeling the economic burn. She's closing down her clothing line, Mblem, to focus on her, er, day job. Now, what is that again? (Luxist)

Speaking of crushes, the Kardashian sisters dish on their fave style stars in this fun gallery. (E! Online)

Emma Watson

Style Shout-out

We're used to seeing Emma Watson looking syrupy sweet on the red carpet, but the almost legal starlet vamped it up at the Burberry & Vanity Fair Portraits party in London by rocking a fashion forward halter mini from the designer's spring 2008 collection. She even showed off a mean shoe game in killer t-strap platform heels. Boys, eat your hearts out!

Keira Knightley

Fashion designers have long recognized that if you want to stay current, the first step (after whipping up a dazzling collection, of course!) is to get your clothes onto the backs of a regular red carpet walker. But what's struck us at mystyle recently is how the most venerable houses have been dressing younger and younger stars.

Style Shout-out

Case in point: Chanel, which outfitted Fergie—who usually sports more, shall we say, au courant attire—in a black cocktail dress for the launch of her Kipling handbag collection last week. Chanel also dressed 17-year old Emma Watson for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix promotional tour earlier this year. Who's next, the cute chicklets from High School Musical?

Emma Watson

Remember that titillating Saturday Night Live sketch a few years back when Lindsay Lohan played a sexed-up version of Emma Watson's Harry Potter character? You know, the one where Hermione Granger returns for another semester at Hogwarts after a magical growth spurt in the form of tig ole bitties? She was practically busting out of her uniform!

Style Scene

Well, we're happy to say you can now swap that racy, grownup image of Emma for this sweet one from yesterday's London premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The 17-year-old starlet, who was just 11 when she walked the red carpet for the first installment of the Harry Potter series, looked refreshingly age-appropriate in a navy Chanel dress.
